We live in unusual times. I think the generations before us; whether from the living room or Heaven or perhaps even that dark scary place where none of us want to wind up, shake their heads at our choices. In particular as it relates to kindness and connecting with each other.
In the "good old days", everyone knew their neighbors. They belonged to a church (and everyone knew everyone) and were involved in their communities. They left their doors unlocked, talked to strangers and were friends with their colleagues. Nice young gentlemen didn't think twice about helping delightful mature ladies across the street.
These days the norm seems to be: zero trust, zero time, zero desire to connect with another human being (stranger or not). Yet we wonder why with these societal norms that it seems as if the world we live in thirsts for human connectivity, love, acceptance and belonging...
There is a mustard seed of hope, one that sort of peeks up like a determined little pine surrounded by a forest of tall, intimidating trees. That's all it takes to start making positive steps in the right direction. The world we live in can be really challenging sometimes...but it isn't completely terrible and neither are its inhabitants. We're all people in need of love, acceptance, belonging and connection. We all have the ability to make a difference. We just have to adapt our way of feeling and thinking. Trust is a tough word...those five little letters have a lot of power and involve taking some chances and being vulnerable. Often times, however, the end results are pleasantly surprising.
I found a few awesome examples of real people making a difference in the world. True examples of unconditional love for fellow human beings. The videos provide a lot of encouragement, hope and happy feels. Literally.
Reach out and connect with someone today...tomorrow...someday soon. You'll be happy you did.
